Function and interfaces
Furniture components range from hidden structural connectors to visible brackets and drawer-slide supports. Define how the part locates, locks and carries load in the finished furniture. The mating panel, timber or metal member affects the joint, so component dimensions alone do not establish assembly strength or durability.
Casting and machining review
Compare zinc and aluminum with the required detail, mass, finish and deformation. Mark visible surfaces and permitted parting or contact witnesses. Review coating build on clips, cams and insertion features. Use the specified mating materials and fasteners for assembly trials, and define packaging that protects the approved finish.
Requirements to define
| Interface | Review requirement |
|---|---|
| Joint | Mating section and fastening method |
| Fit | Insertion path and final coated clearance |
| Finish | Appearance zones and approved sample |
| Validation | Defined assembly load and cycling |
Example of a project decision
Test a connector with the actual panel and screw rather than treating a metal gauge fit as proof of the installed joint.
Information for a quotation
Send the controlled 3D model and drawing, material specification, finish, order quantities and delivery needs. Include mating parts, critical characteristics and required test records. The quotation should identify the casting, machining, finishing and inspection scope, together with any open decisions. Request a drawing review.
