Function and interfaces
A lighting project can include a heat-dissipating body, driver enclosure, adjustable mount and small connectors. Each component has a different role. Share the heat load and interface stack for thermal parts, the seal and cable-entry definition for enclosures, and the installed load for mounts. Component manufacturing evidence should support the finished luminaire validation without claiming a complete product certification.
Casting and machining review
Review thermal pads, gasket lands and adjustable interfaces before assigning one finish to every surface. Map masking and grounding zones. Approve production-intent castings after machining and coating, then validate the completed light with its intended driver, seals and installation hardware.
Requirements to define
| Interface | Review requirement |
|---|---|
| Thermal path | Contact pad, interface material and mounting pressure |
| Enclosure | Gasket, entry hardware and qualification configuration |
| Mounting | Adjustment, loads and locking |
| Appearance | Visible zones, color, texture and packaging |
Example of a project decision
A light can have a satisfactory casting temperature yet fail the system thermal requirement because of a thick interface pad. Validate the assembled heat path.
Information for a quotation
Send the controlled 3D model and drawing, material specification, finish, order quantities and delivery needs. Include mating parts, critical characteristics and required test records. The quotation should identify the casting, machining, finishing and inspection scope, together with any open decisions. Request a drawing review.
