Design & Application Guide

Function and interfaces

A gearbox housing locates rotating components and maintains their relationships under load and temperature. Begin with the bearing arrangement, shaft center distances, flange datums and lubrication boundary. Separate the dimensions that position gears from the external cast outline. Loads from the mounting feet and fasteners need a defined path into the supporting walls.

Casting and machining review

Review cored passages, local thick sections and machining access before the die design. Where opposite bearing bores share an axis, plan the setup and inspection together. Gasket lands and plugs need a specified finished-state seal requirement. Coating should not build unpredictably on bearing seats or mating faces.

Example of a project decision

For a two-shaft design, inspect the specified center-distance relationship rather than accepting each bore diameter separately. Share the mating shaft and bearing definition with the RFQ.

Information for a quotation

Send the controlled 3D model and drawing, material specification, finish, order quantities and delivery needs. Include mating parts, critical characteristics and required test records. The quotation should identify the casting, machining, finishing and inspection scope, together with any open decisions. Request a drawing review.

Manufacturing Route

From your drawing to an agreed component route

  1. 01

    Define the interfaces

Bore size, alignment and datum relationship. Review the mating component and controlling drawing.

  2. 02

    Review tooling and stock

Resolve release, wall transitions and the features that need machining before cutting steel.

  3. 03

    Validate production-intent samples

Load path, machined pads and bolt access. Identify the sample state and record open decisions.

  4. 04

    Release the agreed deliverable

Confirm the finish, functional checks, records and packaging for the accepted component.

Product FAQ

Questions before you quote

What information is needed for this component?

Supply the model and controlled drawing, material, finish, quantities and mating interfaces. Include the application conditions and required tests so the proposed route has a defined acceptance basis.

How should bearing seats be specified?

Bore size, alignment and datum relationship. Include the mating geometry, operating conditions and required inspection or validation. Confirm the proposed route on production-intent samples before repeat supply.
