Function and interfaces
Furniture connectors and brackets must locate the mating members and transfer the specified loads without preventing assembly or service. Supply the joint section, screw or cam details, assembly method and visible-face requirements. Compare zinc and aluminum with the actual size, mass, finish and deformation needs.
Casting and machining review
Review cast hooks, ribs, undercuts and small bosses before selecting the tooling route. Set critical dimensions in the final coated condition. Mark acceptable parting and ejector witnesses away from visible or locating faces. Assembly testing should use the intended mating material and fastener so a component-only check does not hide joint behavior.
Requirements to define
| Interface | Review requirement |
|---|---|
| Mating profile | Insertion path and final clearance |
| Fastening | Thread, cam or screw engagement |
| Appearance | Visible faces, finish and witness zones |
| Joint validation | Mating material and defined loads |
Example of a project decision
A connector that fits a metal gauge may behave differently in the specified wood or panel material. Validate the assembled joint using the intended mating components.
Information for a quotation
Send the controlled 3D model and drawing, material specification, finish, order quantities and delivery needs. Include mating parts, critical characteristics and required test records. The quotation should identify the casting, machining, finishing and inspection scope, together with any open decisions. Request a drawing review.
